Lifting storylines and scenes is nothing new in Telugu film industry. Since ages, our writers and directors have got habituated of doing this. Even reputed filmmakers cum writers like Sukumar and Trivikram Srinivas are no exceptions. While Kumari 21F was literally a xerox copy of Lila Says, Agnyathavaasi is a freemake of Largo Winch. It is heard that upcoming biggies Bharath Ane Nenu is inspired by The Amercian President and few action blocks in Saaho are lifted from the same Largo Winch. Here is another biggie which joins the plagiarism list.
Naa Peru Surya – Naa Illu India’s teaser has impressed one and all. The environment of the plot and the characterization of the protagonist are exciting. But somewhere down the line, the teaser reminds us of a film Antwone Fisher. This 2002 Hollywood film was directed by Denzel Washington. As IMDB reads, the plot is something like this, “Antwone Fisher, a young navy man, is forced to see a psychiatrist after a violent outburst against a fellow crewman. During the course of treatment, a painful past is revealed and a new hope begins.”.
Doesn’t that sound similar to what we have seen in Naa Peru Surya teaser? Hopefully, we have mistaken. Gone are those days where plagiarism would go unnoticed. The audience is exposed to world cinema today. Agnyaathavaasi should have been a big lesson for our filmmakers.
