Nothing is going good with Mahesh Babu. Out of his last 5 releases, the star had given 4 huge disasters at boxoffice. Although there is no immediate danger to his larger than life image or hundred crore market, there is a serious debate over his remuneration. Mahesh Babu charges 25 cr per film. While rival cum contemporary Pawan Kalyan charges anywhere around 20-22 cr, the other stars NTR, Prabhas, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun charge below 20cr.
Agree on the part that both Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan bring so much to table with their market value. Both Spyder and Agnathavasi have polled over 120 cr just from theatrical rights. The same is going to happen with Bharath Ane Nenu. If we include satellite rights, the business would easily touch the 150cr mark. No wrong in charging around 1/6 of what you bring to the producer, but doesn’t it look too much when you can’t give the minimum guarantee of recovery if the film bombs?
If the remuneration is less, the production cost will go down. In that other, the pre release business will be less making it much easy for the distributors to recover thier money. At least the most part, if the film flops. So, this is a game of “Chain Reaction”. With GST being in implementation and sky high ticket prices, our stars should definitely feel responsible over the budgets and humongous pre release business. It’s high time, they should consider cutting down the remuneration.
According to sources, Mahesh Babu is going slash down his remuneration for Vamsi Paidipally-Dil Raju film. Nothing to belittle the star, if this is true, indeed, that would be a wise decision .
