If you are a film trade enthusiast, we need not say who Taran Adarsh is. But you aren’t that, let us inform you that Taran Adarsh is regarded as the biggest film critic in India and the best source of boxoffice collections for all Bollywood films. In simple, we could say, he is a boxoffice numbers guy. So, when he speaks about the boxoffice pull of Mahesh Babu, you should understand that he is not really trying to impress his fans but speaking facts.
The Superstar is termed as “Overseas King” of Telugu film industry. It was the Price who started a market for Telugu films in territories like USA and Australia. He holds the highest number of opening day records in USA. Speaking facts, before Kabali, even Rajinikanth didn’t match the might of Mahesh Babu in USA. The recent Spyder is another example of Superstar’s crowd-pulling ability in US. Spyder, despite terrible reviews, opened to 1 million dollars at USA boxoffice (only premiers). The film earned 9-10 cr share from different overseas markets with disaster talk.
Taran Adarsh is in awe of this feat. In a recent interview, the trade analyst placed Mahesh Babu over Khans considering the opening day records in USA.
“Oh my God. The film made million dollars at USA on opening day (premiers). Sorry, with due respect to a lot of actors in Hindi film industry, we don’t really achieve those numbers even for lifetime business. The Khans are very popular in USA. There is SRK, Salman and Aamir but when you compare with Mahesh Babu’s opening, Mahesh Babu is leagues ahead, he is very much ahead.” says Taran Adarsh.
